Fire at Universal's Islands of Adventure Park

What a way to start off the new year. On January 1st, 2011 a fire broke out in the Toon Lagoon section of Universal's Islands of Adventure park. The fire broke out at the Dudley Do Right Rip Saw Falls attraction just after 5pm. No one was hurt in the fire as all guests and crew members were evacuated quickly and safely. Toon Lagoon (and its other attractions) was shut down and evacuated as well while the fire was put out. Toon Lagoon eventually reopened later in the day. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined as the damage is pretty extensive. The ride will be closed for an undeteremined amount of time and will likely under go general yearly matenance while its down.

Dudley Do Rights Rip Saw Falls is a Log Flume type ride at Islands of Adventure. The ride follows the cartoon hero Dudley Do Right on his adventures. Although the ride has the best drop and speed (not to mention theres no possible way your walking off this ride dry) that i've ever experianced on a Log Flume ride it still falls short of the all around package that Disney's Splash Mountain delevers. It seemed that the Animatronics on Duddley weren't well done and in some spots you just passed thru empty rooms that seemed like something should be occupying. The ride is good and if your up for getting wet then its worth checking out. However I hope with this fire that Universal will take there time with the repairs and maybe even fix many of the items that are truely preventing this ride from being the best Log Flume ride out there.
