Teknik_DC2: Meet Team Teknik

I originally had something else that I wanted to blog about for todays Wednesday update. However I figured that it might be kinda hard to blog about something in the past if those of you reading this blog have no clue who i'm talking about. So let me take the time today and introduce you to Team Teknik.

Team Teknik was formed in Febuary 2002. We are a group of friends who all have a love of cars so we decided to give a name to our group. The group has always been about our friendships first and foremost. The cars have just been an added bonus. Many of us were friends many years before Teknik was formed so it only seemed fit to give our selves a name once more and more of us got into the world of cars.

What started out as 4 members grew to 12 at our peak in 2005 and currently has 11 members. However as times change so do peoples lives so although we have 11 members only 5 of us are still somewhat active in the automotive community. Teknik will never die though as we founded the group around our friendship not our cars so we still get together regularly and BBQ or go out to dinner and what not. The group no longer revolves around our cars.

We stood out from other race teams of the time. When we started everyone assumed we were another "Race Team" that popped up because of Fast and the Furious and we would be gone in a blink of an eye. We survived and even stepped up and finally gained respect in 2005. We have never had a president or any team leadership. Everyone on the team was equal and as such all team decisions had to be a 100% vote with everyone. To become a member of Teknik you had to prove yourself as being a true friend to everyone in the group first. Didn't matter if you had the most bad ass or fastest cars you wouldn't be in Teknik unless we could call you a true friend. This took some members up to 9 months before they were accepted into the team.

Because of being based around friendship we had a very large diversity in the Vehicles on the team. Many started out as show car street racers and evolved in to full on drag cars and running on road courses. We had a large mix from bullet bikes to lifted trucks, and from american muscle to turboed imports.

After 2007 the members really started focusing on the more important things in life. Many sold there cars so they could buy a house and start there families. Although many no longer own there cars we are still way close friends who talk and go out regularly and that is why even if we all sold our cars Teknik will never die. Our values were focused on more important things then cars.

Here are all the cars that have been apart of Teknik at one time or another. Currently there are 9 vehicles that are somewhat active in the scene. Watch for future blogs as I highlight members of the team more in depth and also recount the history of the team.
